    Description

    Victoria Austria Madame De Montspan Portrait 8 1/2 Inch Luncheon Plate
    Pretty relief molded porcelain plate. Has a portrait in the center of Madame de Montespan. With clouded gold gilding along the edge. Marked Victoria Carlsbad Austria on the back in blue. This mark was used by Schmidt & Co between 1891 and 1918.
    Françoise Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Marquise of Montespan (1640 – 1707), better known as Madame de Montespan, who was the most celebrated maîtresse en titre of King Louis XIV of France, by whom she had seven children.
    Has lot of wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks.
    Measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide.
    This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
