L Straus & Sons LS&S Carlsbad Austria Covered Oval Serving Bowl(s) Pink Roses Blue Flowers
Pink roses, blue flowers, green vines/leaves, scalloped edge, gold trim.
Opening: 8-1/4” x 6-1/4”, 2-5/8” tall. 10-1/2” handle to handle. No chips, cracks, or crazing except as mentioned below. I have two of these bowls/lids available. Note that each has a slightly different floral design in the center.
Bowl #1 (photos 1-5): Some brown spots inside and minor wear to gold trim on the handles. Base is a bit rough. Lid has some wear to the gold on the edge and on the handle.
Bowl #2 (photos 6-11): There are a couple of small brown spots and light wear to the gold on the handles. There is a shallow chip on the base. The lid has some wear to the gold on the edge and on the handle and there are a few faint gray spots. The underside of the lid rim is a bit discolored.
More details: The LS&S Carlsbad Austria backstamp was used by L Straus & Sons. A hand painted number is also present – please see the photos. L Straus & Sons was an American importer affiliated with Macy’s department store. The company had their own porcelain decorating factory in Carlsbad, then part of Austria. (Some trivia: Isidor, one of the Straus sons, went down with the Titanic.) Based on historical information, I am guessing these serving bowls are pre-World War I.

. If you are buying one item from me, know that I will be charging you within pennies of what it will cost me to ship the item. I am in the Pacific Northwest, so please keep this in mind if shipping seems high.
Shipping Method:
I ship by USPS, UPS, or FedEx, depending on the weight and destination. If you select USPS Parcel Select, I may change it to one of the other services if it offers a faster shipping speed and insurance. I am pleased to ship to APO addresses.

“Ship To” Address:
To avoid shipping delays and possible added expense, make sure your payment source has your correct “ship to” address. Also, I am happy to ship to a third party, but please be sure to provide that address before making the payment. Address change requests after payment may result in cancellation of the order.

International Buyers

I ship my items in corrugated cardboard boxes, with packing peanuts and bubble wrap.
Payment must be received within 4 days.
Returns:
If you are not pleased with your purchase, you may return it within 30 days in “as sold” condition. Please retain all packing material and/or replace damaged bubble wrap with new if necessary, to ensure an undamaged returned item. Please contact me first before starting the return process so I can have the chance to resolve the issue.
