    ABOUT THE BOOK
In 1922, Wilfred Louis Foster anonymously penned a book on tackle making for the famous Exchange and Mart publishers entitled Fishing Tackle Making and Repairing. Foster was an expert on the subject of rod making, being the son of William H. Foster and the grandson of the legendary David Foster of the famed Ashbourne rodmaking firm of Foster Bros. A simple book designed for the common man, it laid out the process for crafting a fishing rod in easy to understand terms. The book went through at least six editions and was in print for over three decades. Here reprinted for the first time is the entire text of his rod making writings, as well as additional articles on rod making culled from the pages of the always entertaining Exchange and Mart newspaper. It includes an introduction on the relationship between the Exchange and Mart and angling in Britain by Dr. Todd E.A. Larson. This is a volume in the Second Series of Fly Angler's Desktop Library, which will deal specifically with British and European cane rod building.
