for your consideration is this fabulous antique Carlsbad Marx & Gutherz Soup Tureen. The pattern is #5 and depicts a beautiful floral design with large orchids.It is all hand painted and dates to the 1880's. The tureen is in wonderful condition with some trim loss and minimal pattern loss with no chips, nips, cracks or repairs. There are two cooling cracks on the foot and these were obviously done at time of firing. The tureen stands 6 1/2" tall and is 12 1/2" wide and 8" deep. The high gloss glaze is in remarkable condition on the outside as well as on the inside. There is some discoloration on the inside lip of the lid (please see images). An outstanding example of an early piece of finely painted dinnerware.
